Genuine BMW part 23 60 7 837 728: Basic control unit SMG (exchange unit). The number stamped on the part is 23607837728; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7837728. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH basic control unit SMG”. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Other Manual gearbox parts. It supersedes the older number 7836383, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits the E46 coupe and convertible (M3, 2001–2006), with the S54 engine.

BMW draws it on the Basic control unit SMG (23_0900) diagram. It weighs about 380 g (0.8 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
