Basic control unit SMG (exchange unit) — a genuine BMW part, number 23 60 7 530 821. The number stamped on the part is 23607530821; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7530821. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH basic control unit SMG”. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Other Manual gearbox parts. It supersedes the older number 7522399, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 7533426.

BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.

It weighs about 400 g (0.9 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
