SMG control unit programmed (exchange unit) — a genuine BMW part, number 23 60 7 843 253. The number stamped on the part is 23607843253; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7843253. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH-SMG control unit programmed”. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Other Manual gearbox parts. It supersedes the older number 7837729, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits the E46 coupe and convertible (M3, 2001–2006), with the S54 engine.

BMW draws it on the Programmed SMG control unit (23_0899) diagram. It weighs about 400 g (0.9 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
