This is a genuine BMW SMG control unit programmed (exchange unit), part number 23 60 7 843 252. The number stamped on the part is 23607843252; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7843252. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH-SMG control unit programmed”. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Other Manual gearbox parts. It supersedes the older number 7837727, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits the E46 coupe and convertible (M3, 2001–2006), with the S54 engine.

BMW draws it on the Programmed SMG control unit (23_0899) diagram. It weighs about 400 g (0.9 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
