This is a genuine BMW torx bolt, part number 23 00 1 222 890. The number stamped on the part is 23001222890; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1222890. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Other Manual gearbox parts. It supersedes the older number 1215042, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.

BMW draws it on 25 diagrams, among them Engine block (11_4300) and Gearbox Mounting (23_0491). It weighs about 49 g (0.1 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
