Torx bolt — a genuine BMW part, number 23 00 1 222 888. The number stamped on the part is 23001222888; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1222888. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Other Manual gearbox parts. It supersedes the older numbers 0148708 and 1215819, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.

It fits the E36 sedan, coupe and convertible (M3, 1995–1999), with the S50 engine.

BMW draws it on 61 diagrams, among them Starter Mounting Parts (12_0259) and Gearbox Mounting (23_1265). BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 40 g (under 0.1 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
