Genuine BMW part 23 12 1 282 394: Shaft seal. The number stamped on the part is 23121282394; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1282394. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Bearing in housing, sealing rings. It supersedes the older number 7537914, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 1222677.

It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i and 325i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 100 diagrams, among them S5D...Z housing + mounting parts (23_0125) and S5D...G housing + mounting parts (23_0234).
