Basic control unit DME (exchange unit) — a genuine BMW part, number 12 14 7 836 455. The number stamped on the part is 12147836455; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7836455. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH Basic control unit DME”. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Other Engine Electrical System parts. It supersedes the older number 7836454, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 7837806.

It fits the E46 coupe and convertible (M3, 2001–2006), with the S54 engine.

BMW draws it on the Basic control unit DME (12_1081) diagram. It weighs about 452 g (1.0 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
