Genuine BMW part 12 14 1 406 594: Basic control unit DME (exchange unit). The number stamped on the part is 12141406594; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1406594. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH Basic control unit DME”. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Other Engine Electrical System parts. It supersedes the older number 1406464, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits the E36 sedan, coupe and convertible (M3, 1996–1999), with the S52 engine.

BMW draws it on 3 diagrams, among them Basic control unit DME (12_1994) and Basic control unit DME (12_1996). It weighs about 600 g (1.3 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
