This is a genuine BMW basic control unit DME (exchange unit), part number 12 14 1 430 187. The number stamped on the part is 12141430187; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1430187. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH Basic control unit DME”. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Other Engine Electrical System parts. It supersedes the older number 1430186, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 1430940.

It fits the E46 sedan and touring (316i 1.6, 316i 1.9 and 318i, 1997–2001), with the M43 engine.
