This is a genuine BMW dowel, part number 11 12 1 726 242. The number stamped on the part is 11121726242; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1726242. You will find it on our Engine shelf, under Cylinder head with cover. It supersedes the older numbers 1250717 and 1278949, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.
It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i, 325i and 328i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 116 diagrams, among them Wheel Casing (11_1116) and Cylinder head (11_1144). It also comes in BMW kit Oil pump (8298597).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
