E36 & E46 Diagnostics and Check Engine Light
Check engine light, warning lights, misfires, electrical faults and noises on the E36 and E46 — found first, then quoted.
A fault code points at a system, not a part. A lean code on an E46 is as often a cracked intake boot or a crankcase vent valve as it is a sensor. We read the codes, look at the live data and test before we suggest replacing anything.
You get a written estimate for the diagnosis first, then one for the repair once we know what it is.
Signs it needs doing
- The check engine or another warning light is on
- Misfires, rough running or stalling
- Electrical faults: windows, lights, the cluster, the instrument display
- A new noise you can’t place
What the job covers
- Fault codes read and recorded
- Live data and tests
- A written finding and an estimate for the fix
What it costs
Every car is different at this age, so we price it once we have seen yours. Yes. You get a written estimate by email with a private link, and you approve it job by job — or decline what you don’t want. We won’t go over the estimate you approved by more than Colorado allows (10% or 25 dollars, whichever is less) without asking you first.
Questions
Will I know the price before you start?
Yes. You get a written estimate by email with a private link, and you approve it job by job — or decline what you don’t want. We won’t go over the estimate you approved by more than Colorado allows (10% or 25 dollars, whichever is less) without asking you first.
Can you just clear the light?
We can, but it comes back if the fault is still there. We would rather tell you what set it.
