It fits every E36 body style (318i and 318ti, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43 or M44 engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits every E46 body style (316i, 316i 1.6, 316i 1.9, 316ti, 318i and 318ti, 1997–2004), with the M43, N40, N42, N45 or N46 engines.
BMW draws it on 4 diagrams, among them S5D...G drive shaft/output shaft (23_0719) and S5D...G drive shaft/output shaft (23_1182). BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 70 g (0.2 lb).
