Shaft seal with lock ring — a genuine BMW part, number 33 10 7 510 289. The number stamped on the part is 33107510289; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7510289. You will find it on our Suspension shelf, under Rear-axle-drive parts. It supersedes the older number 1214071, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits the E36 sedan, coupe and convertible (M3, 1996–1999), with the S50 engine. It also fits the E46 coupe and convertible (M3, 2001–2006), with the S54 engine.

BMW draws it on 26 diagrams, among them Drive Flange Suspension/Gasket (33_0473) and Differential-Drive/Output (33_1065). BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 30 g (under 0.1 lb).
