01 View BMW DiagramSee this part on the official exploded view→This is a genuine BMW touring bicycle holder, part number 82 72 9 405 242. The number stamped on the part is 82729405242; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 9405242. You will find it on our Merchandise & Accessories shelf, under Other Universal Accessories parts. It supersedes the older number 9402897, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 0137716.
It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i and 325i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 17 diagrams, among them Touring bicycle holder (03_3210) and Touring bicycle holder (03_3211). It weighs about 2.8 kg (6.2 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
