04 View BMW DiagramSee this part on the official exploded view→Supporting tube — a genuine BMW part, number 51 45 8 244 818. The number stamped on the part is 51458244818; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 8244818. You will find it on our Interior Body shelf, under Covering, inner. It supersedes the older number 8146660, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E36 compact (318ti, 1995–1999), with the M42 or M44 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on the Dashboard Covering/Passenger's Airbag (51_2164) diagram. It weighs about 1.0 kg (2.2 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
