This is a genuine BMW spark plug socket, part number 12 13 1 740 477. The number stamped on the part is 12131740477; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1740477. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Ignition coil.

It fits every E36 body style (320i, 323i and 328i, 1992–1999), with the M52 engine — and the European-market versions. It also fits every E46 body style (320i, 323i, 325i, 328i and 330i, 1999–2006), with the M52 or M54 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 8 diagrams, among them Igtn. coil/sparkplug connector/sparkplug (12_0409) and Ignition coil/spark plug (12_0425). BMW's catalog calls for six of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 36 g (under 0.1 lb).
