Repair kit, trailing link, left — a genuine BMW part, number 31 12 2 405 861. The number stamped on the part is 31122405861; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 2405861. You will find it on our Suspension shelf, under Other Front Axle parts. It supersedes the older number 6769797, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on 2 diagrams, among them Repair kit, trailing links and wishbones (31_1219) and Repair kit, trailing links and wishbones (88_0149). It weighs about 1.9 kg (4.3 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
