This is a genuine BMW pulley alternator, part number 12 31 1 713 945. The number stamped on the part is 12311713945; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1713945. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Alternator with motor and mounting. It supersedes the older number 1436636, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits every E36 body style (318i, 320i, 323i, 325i, 328i and M3, 1992–1999), with the M43, M50, M52, S50 or S52 engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits the E46 sedan, coupe, convertible and touring (320i, 323i and 325i, 1999–2006), with the M52 or M54 engines.

BMW draws it on 20 diagrams, among them Alternator, individual parts 80A (12_0468) and Alternator, individual parts 80A (12_0470). It weighs about 301 g (0.7 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
