Oil pressure switch — a genuine BMW part, number 12 61 7 620 512. The number stamped on the part is 12617620512; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7620512. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Other Engine Electrical System parts. It supersedes the older number 7568480, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 2367061.

It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i and 325i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 102 diagrams, among them Lubrication system-Oil filter (11_0506) and Lubrication system-Oil filter (11_0526). It weighs about 30 g (under 0.1 lb).
