The number stamped on the part is 24117519543; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7519543. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Gearbox housing, oil sump. It supersedes the older number 1422795, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 323i, 325i and 328i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits the E46 sedan (316i 1.9 and 318i, 1997–2001), with the M43 engine.
BMW draws it on 4 diagrams, among them A4S 270R/310R oil pan/oil strainer (24_0799) and A4S 270R/310R oil pan/oil strainer (24_1299). It weighs about 1.9 kg (4.1 lb).
