Manual drive shaft gearbox, aluminium — a genuine BMW part, number 26 10 1 229 688. The number stamped on the part is 26101229688; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1229688. You will find it on our Drivetrain & Axle shelf, under Drive shaft, single components. It supersedes the older number 1229655, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 7523783.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
It weighs about 7.8 kg (17 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
