Install.instructions, case holder — a genuine BMW part, number 77 01 8 541 985. The number stamped on the part is 77018541985; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 8541985. It supersedes the older numbers 7707866 and 8528639, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on 2 diagrams, among them Set, case holder, Vario case (46_1800) and Set, case holder, Vario case (77_0181). It also comes in BMW kit Set Case Holder (8535862).
