Hex nut with plate — a genuine BMW part, number 07 12 9 900 681. The number stamped on the part is 07129900681; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 9900681. You will find it on our Supplies & Hardware shelf, under Group 12. It supersedes the older numbers 0150606, 1740288 and 9946301, so a part carrying any of them is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 9904553.

It fits the E36 convertible and compact (318i, 318ti, 323i, 325i, 328i and M3, 1994–1999), with the M42, M43, M44, M50, M52 or S50 and other engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits the E46 convertible (323i, 325i, 330i and M3, 2000–2006), with the M52, M54 or S54 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 74 diagrams, among them Electrical Folding Top (54_0182) and Softtop, electromech. all-autom (54_0199).
