This is a genuine BMW hex nut, part number 61 21 1 459 656. The number stamped on the part is 61211459656; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1459656. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Battery with holder. It supersedes the older number 9922056, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti and 320i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44 or M50 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 40 diagrams, among them Battery Cable(battery Rear) (12_0364) and Battery Cable(battery Front) (12_0616). It weighs about 2 g (under 0.1 lb).
