Generator, water-cooled (exchange unit) — a genuine BMW part, number 12 31 1 705 483. The number stamped on the part is 12311705483; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1705483. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH generator, water-cooled”. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Alternator with motor and mounting. It supersedes the older number 1705557, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 7508052.
