Genuine BMW part 12 31 1 243 004: Carbon brush set. The number stamped on the part is 12311243004; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1243004. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Alternator with motor and mounting. It supersedes the older number 1350787, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 1244480.

BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.

BMW draws it on the Alternator (12_1006) diagram. It weighs about 4 g (under 0.1 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
