Basic control unit DME — a genuine BMW part, number 12 14 1 744 897. The number stamped on the part is 12141744897; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1744897. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Other Engine Electrical System parts. It supersedes the older number 1744160, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 1744598.

It fits the E36 sedan, coupe and convertible (320i, 1992–1995), with the M52 engine.

BMW draws it on 2 diagrams, among them Basic control unit DME (12_1994) and Basic control unit DME (12_1996). It weighs about 625 g (1.4 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
