Genuine BMW part 71 60 7 692 173: Variable case, left, without lock cyl. The number stamped on the part is 71607692173; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7692173. You will find it on our Tools shelf, under Other Equipment Parts parts. It supersedes the older number 7670827, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on the Vario case (77_0009) diagram. It weighs about 5.7 kg (13 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
