Torx-bolt with washer — a genuine BMW part, number 51 23 8 165 153. The number stamped on the part is 51238165153; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 8165153. You will find it on our Interior Body shelf, under Other Body equipment parts. It supersedes the older number 0151701, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 9156085.

It fits the E36 convertible (318i, 323i, 325i, 328i and M3, 1994–1999), with the M42, M43, M44, M50, M52 or S50 engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits the E46 convertible (323i, 325i, 330i and M3, 2000–2006), with the M52, M54 or S54 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 10 diagrams, among them Retrofit, ski bag (03_2661) and Engine Hood/Mounting Parts (41_0010). BMW's catalog calls for four of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 10 g (under 0.1 lb).
