This is a genuine BMW torx bolt, part number 54 12 8 108 881. The number stamped on the part is 54128108881; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 8108881. You will find it on our Exterior Body shelf, under Other Sliding Roof / Folding Top parts. It supersedes the older number 0309353, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits the E36 compact (318ti, 1995–1999), with the M42 or M44 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 3 diagrams, among them Sliding Lifting Roof Frame (54_0008) and Folding Sliding Roof Frame (54_0198). BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 2 g (under 0.1 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
