This is a genuine BMW torx bolt, part number 32 30 6 778 609. The number stamped on the part is 32306778609; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 6778609. You will find it on our Steering shelf, under Steering column. It supersedes the older numbers 1094718 and 6758080, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.
It fits every E46 body style (320i, 323i and 325i, 1999–2006), with the M52, M54 or M56 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 51 diagrams, among them Steer.Col.-Lower Joint Assy (32_0942) and BMW M Performance suspension (03_0077). BMW's catalog calls for three of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 10 g (under 0.1 lb). It also comes in BMW kit Steering spindle bottom w/double joint (6762147).
