Torx bolt — a genuine BMW part, number 11 13 7 800 623. The number stamped on the part is 11137800623; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7800623. You will find it on our Engine shelf, under Oil pan. It supersedes the older number 2246988, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits the E36 sedan, touring and compact (318tds, 325td and 325tds, 1991–1996), with the M41 or M51 engines. It also fits the E46 sedan, coupe, convertible and touring (318d, 320d and 330d, 1998–2005), with the M47, M57 or M57N engines.

BMW draws it on 16 diagrams, among them Oil Pan/Oil Level Indicator (11_1146) and Oil Pan/Oil Level Indicator (11_1442). BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 20 g (under 0.1 lb).
