This is a genuine BMW temperature switch, part number 12 63 1 279 722. The number stamped on the part is 12631279722; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1279722. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Other Engine Electrical System parts. It supersedes the older number 1361573, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 1279716.

BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.

BMW draws it on 20 diagrams, among them Cooling System-Thermostat/Water Hoses (11_0708) and Cooling System-Thermostat/Water Hoses (11_0709). It weighs about 25 g (under 0.1 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
