This is a genuine BMW surfboard rack, part number 82 72 9 402 896. The number stamped on the part is 82729402896; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 9402896. You will find it on our Merchandise & Accessories shelf, under Other Universal Accessories parts. It supersedes the older numbers 9401418 and 9413101, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.

It fits the E36 sedan and coupe (318i, 320i, 323i, 325i, 328i and M3, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 and other engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 12 diagrams, among them Surfboard rack (03_3282) and Surfboard rack (03_3283). It weighs about 1.2 kg (2.7 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
