Support bracket — a genuine BMW part, number 24 50 1 421 587. The number stamped on the part is 24501421587; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1421587. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Other Automatic transmission parts. It supersedes the older number 1218227, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 323i, 325i and 328i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 9 diagrams, among them Gear shift parts, automatic gearbox (25_0016) and Shift Interlock Automatic Transm (25_0020). It weighs about 62 g (0.1 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
