02 View BMW DiagramSee this part on the official exploded view→This is a genuine BMW spring, part number 18 21 1 246 857. The number stamped on the part is 18211246857; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1246857. You will find it on our Exhaust shelf, under Other Exhaust system parts. It supersedes the older number 1246405, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on 4 diagrams, among them Front Silencer (18_0052) and Centre muffler (18_0057). It weighs about 60 g (0.1 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
