This is a genuine BMW solenoid switch, part number 11 36 1 738 494. The number stamped on the part is 11361738494; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1738494. You will find it on our Engine shelf, under Other Engine parts. It supersedes the older number 1738407, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits the E36 sedan, coupe and convertible (320i, 325i and M3, 1992–1995), with the M50 or S50 engines.
