Side section, bumper, left, primed — a genuine BMW part, number 51 12 7 238 253. The number stamped on the part is 51127238253; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7238253. You will find it on our Interior Body shelf, under Door, rear. It supersedes the older number 7238391, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on the Trim panel, rear (51_7603) diagram. It weighs about 170 g (0.4 lb). It also comes in BMW kits Retrofit visible exhaust kit (2184133) and Retrofit visible exhaust kit (2407508).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
