This is a genuine BMW shifting rod 3RD and 4TH gear, part number 23 31 1 228 248. The number stamped on the part is 23311228248; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1228248. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Inner gearshift parts. It supersedes the older number 1224119, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.

BMW draws it on 7 diagrams, among them Getrag 240 Inner Gear Shifting Parts (23_0247) and Getrag 240 Inner Gear Shifting Parts (23_0528). It weighs about 417 g (0.9 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
