Shifting fork 3rd and 4th gear — a genuine BMW part, number 23 31 1 224 958. The number stamped on the part is 23311224958; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1224958. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Inner gearshift parts. It supersedes the older number 1224866, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 1222778.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
It weighs about 404 g (0.9 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
