This is a genuine BMW shifting fork 1st and 2nd gear, part number 23 31 1 224 957. The number stamped on the part is 23311224957; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1224957. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Inner gearshift parts. It supersedes the older number 1224865, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 1282582.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
It weighs about 290 g (0.6 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
