The number stamped on the part is 25162228145; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 2228145. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Gearshift. It supersedes the older number 2272089, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E36 compact (318ti, 1995–1999), with the M42 or M44 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 4 diagrams, among them Fine wood trim (03_0609) and Retrofit, selector lever grip (03_2854). It weighs about 245 g (0.5 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
