This is a genuine BMW shift gear for 3rd. gear, part number 23 22 1 228 017. The number stamped on the part is 23221228017; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1228017. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Gear wheels. It supersedes the older number 1224430, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.

BMW draws it on 16 diagrams, among them Getrag 260/5/50 Gear Wheel Set, Sing Part (23_0134) and Getrag 260/5/50 Gear Wheel Set, Sing Part (23_0135). It weighs about 690 g (1.5 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
