Set, timing chain — a genuine BMW part, number 11 31 8 535 881. The number stamped on the part is 11318535881; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 8535881. You will find it on our Engine shelf, under CAMSHAFT. It supersedes the older numbers 7713828, 7718069 and 7723877, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on the Camshaft, camshaft gear, timing chain (11_5143) diagram.
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
