This is a genuine BMW self-locking hex nut, part number 24 51 7 542 700. The number stamped on the part is 24517542700; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7542700. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Other Automatic transmission parts. It supersedes the older number 9922422, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i and 325i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 73 diagrams, among them Shift Interlock Automatic Transm (25_0240) and Shift Interlock Automatic Transm. Japan (25_0243).
