Genuine BMW part 11 12 7 568 040: Screw plug. The number stamped on the part is 11127568040; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7568040. You will find it on our Engine shelf, under Cylinder head with cover. It supersedes the older number 2246802, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits every E46 body style (316i, 316ti, 318d, 318i, 318td, 318ti, 320d and 2 others, 1998–2005), with the M47, M47N, M57, M57N, N40 or N42 and other engines.

BMW draws it on 6 diagrams, among them Cylinder head (11_2090) and Cylinder head (11_2314). BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 10 g (under 0.1 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
