This is a genuine BMW roof box 320, part number 82 73 0 140 820. The number stamped on the part is 82730140820; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 0140820. You will find it on our Merchandise & Accessories shelf, under Other Universal Accessories parts. It supersedes the older number 9404728, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 2209906.
It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i and 325i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 5 diagrams, among them Roof box (03_3154) and Roof box (03_3155). It weighs about 17 kg (36 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
