The number stamped on the part is 23311228487; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1228487. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Inner gearshift parts. It supersedes the older number 1228469, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i and 325i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits the E46 sedan and coupe (316i, 1999–2004), with the M43, N40, N42 or N45 engines.
BMW draws it on 5 diagrams, among them S5D...G inner gear shifting parts (23_0128) and S5D...G inner gear shifting parts (23_0227). It weighs about 40 g (under 0.1 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
