Repair kit, aux. damper, protective tube — a genuine BMW part, number 31 30 2 290 313. The number stamped on the part is 31302290313; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 2290313. You will find it on our Suspension shelf, under Other Front Axle parts. It supersedes the older number 6757046, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E46 sedan, coupe and compact (320i, 325i and 330i, 2001–2006), with the M54 or M56 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 3 diagrams, among them Guide Support/Spring Pad/Attaching Parts (31_0408) and Repair kits, shock absorbers, front (31_0967). BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 130 g (0.3 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
